About West Nusa Tenggara
West Nusa Tenggara is a province in Indonesia. As the name implies, this province covers the western part of the Nusa Tenggara Islands. The two largest islands in the province are Lombok which is located in the west and Sumbawa which is located in the east. The capital of the province is Mataram City on Lombok Island.
Alfred Russell Wallace in the 19th century marked the transition area of flora and fauna in the West and East Indonesia with the name Wallace Line. This line acts as the western boundary of West Nusa Tenggara which covers the islands of Lombok and Sumbawa. In the northern part of West Nusa Tenggara the area is mountainous and filled with tall, dense trees and bushes. Whereas in the south, the area is arid and filled with grassland. West Nusa Tenggara does not have Asian mammals, but has marsupials, lizards, parrots and parrots. This difference is more pronounced in the Eastern part, where the dry season is longer, sago and corn are the staple food of the people of West Nusa Tenggara and not rice.
The Sasak tribe is a tribe that inhabits the island of Lombok and uses the Sasak language. Most of the Sasak tribes are Muslim, unique to a small portion of the Sasak people, there are Islamic practices that are somewhat different from Islam in general, namely Islam Teletu, but only about 1% who practice such worship. There are also a few Sasak people who follow the pre-Islamic belief called “sasak Boda”.
The Bima tribe or Dou Mbojo is a tribe that inhabits Bima Regency and Bima City and has existed since the time of the Majapahit Kingdom. This tribe uses Bima or Nggahi Mbojo. Historically-, the Bima tribe has 7 leaders in each area called Ncuhi. During the rebellion in Majapahit, one of the Five Pandavas, Bima, fled to Bima via the southern route so that the rebels were not caught and immediately appointed by the Ncuhi as the first King of the Milky Way. But the Bima immediately adopted his son as king and he returned to Java and ordered his two children to rule in the Kingdom of Bima. Therefore, some Old Javanese languages are sometimes still used as subtle languages in Bima.
You can find seafood easily in West Nusa Tenggara as well as many western foods here. West Nusa Tenggara food, especially Lombok (Sasak) is usually spicy food. Freshwater fish is also one of the favorite foods here, try the sweet and sour gurame when you walk around this place. One of the foods that must be tasted is Taliwang chicken, spinach plecing and also a very spicy chili sauce made from chili, tomatoes and eggplant. Even though it tastes very spicy, it can make you addicted because it tastes very delicious.
